I believe that Matthew 7:7 is one of the popular verse in the Bible. Yes it is popular and very easy to quote that even some people quote it in getting things from others.

The question is what does it really mean? In the verse, Jesus says “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you”. -(English Version).

When he says we should ask and it will be given, I want to say that you might have been disappointed that not all you ask that has been given, not all you seek, that you have found and not all you knock, that has open. But why? You might and should be asking!

The answer is although He stresses in verse 8 of the same chapter if you read down. He says “For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to one who knocks it shall be opened”. He is not saying you should be asking for what is not of your category. God knows what is good for us and in a situation that you ask for things that is not for the betterment of our life and things that will bring Glory to His name, I assure you that it will not be given unto you, you will not find and it will not be opened.

If you check that same chapter but verse 6, you will see that He emphasizes on things that are worth giving. He says in that verse 6: “Do not give dogs what is holy and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you”..

I will advice you to check yourself on your worth next time you asks, seeks and knocks.

Note that the words of the Bible are very true only if you know what it means and practice it accordingly.
